How do I give someone a star?
First, look through the stars that are available to you. Some might be locked, some might be a limited edition, and some might not have been invented yet...but there will always be stars available for you to give and not give.
Next, think of who you want to give a star to. This is important. The easiest way to find your friends is to link your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Then, just start typing a friend’s name. Matching results will appear in a drop down menu -- select the friend you’d like to send a star.
You can also send a star to an email account by simply typing in an email or you can paste in a link to ANY Facebook or Twitter account (even if you aren't "friended").
And you can always give a star to another star.me user! Their names will appear when you start typing in the TO field or you can navigate to any Star.Me profile page and hit the "Give a Star" button on the right.
Lastly you should think of why you are giving a star. Most people haven't gotten a star for a very long time, so you don't have to think very hard, but you should definitely think medium hard. We will make a list of reasons for you soon in case you'd rather us think, so you don't have to.
I’ve given a star. Now what?
Tell every single person in the world! Post the star on your wall!! Your actual wall! Then post it on your Facebook wall! Tweet it from the mountains' tops!! The more stars you send, the better you’ll feel. Promise. We will also feel better. Promise.
Where are my friends?
Oh. That is a sad question. It makes me sad as I type this. Maybe they are hiding?
I received a star. Now what?
All of your received stars will be on your profile page. You can rearrange them any way you’d like by selecting "edit profile" when you are on your home page. Make it look nice and pretty -- this is how other people will see your page.
Now give a star back.
Can I make a star private?
Yes. Click on any of your received stars and you will see a creepy eyeball, click on that creepy eyeball and make it into a less creepy closed eyeball. Now it is private and only you and the person who gave it to you can see it.
Do I have to give a star?
No. But it sure is more fun when you do. If you want, you can browse through users’ profiles and read about all the awesome reasons people have given stars.
How do I change the background for my profile page?
On your profile page, click on EDIT PROFILE. Click on the star in a background (yeah - it's a stretch). From there you can upload a .jpg, .png, or .bmp or select from our ready-made background images. Add a filter to make the picture look neat and easy to see stars upon.
How do I change my avatar?
On the right-hand side of your page, you'll see a link that says "change avatar" (the other says "change bg"). Click "change avatar" to change your avatar and "change bg" to change your background picture. You can take an avatar picture using your webcam (if Flash doesn't act weird) or upload a .jpg, .png, or .bmp. We have some pre-made images for your background if you want, too. Add a filter to make the picture look even better, unless you are perfect just the way you are.
